We operate on an appointment system within the surgery and we aim to provide a range of appointment times throughout the day.
eConsult is available Monday to Friday between 8am and 1pm. Outside of these times please call the practice where our reception staff will ask for a brief description of your problem to ensure you are booked in with the appropriate clinician and you will then be offered either a telephone consultation or a face to face appointment. Please note that by doing this we have managed to increase the prebookable face to face appointments.
Our surgery works to very tight schedules hence our appointments are for 15 minutes only, however complex problems can take more time resulting in surgery running late, please ask for a longer appointment if you feel that you need it.
We offer telephone consultations for problems you feel the doctor can help you with by giving advice over the telephone; this can include advice for minor illness and feedback from routine tests.
Please ensure a valid and current telephone number is on your clinical record.
Patients arriving on time will be seen in order of appointment.
Any patients that attend their appointment more than 5 minutes late will be asked to rebook for another day.
Patients are usually seen at the surgery but between the hours of 08:30 and 18:30 patients may be seen at home if the doctor considers a home visit is necessary. Home visits are usually done at the end of morning surgery.
To request a home visit:
It is important that you inform the reception staff if you are unable to attend your appointment, this will allow that appointment to be offered to another patient. If you fail to notify the Practice that you are unable to attend, and persistently do so, you may be removed from the practice list.
You can also complete our appointment cancellation notification request form. This can only be used if your appointment has been arranged for more than 24 hours in advance. (excluding weekends and public holidays).
We have a texting service which allows you to receive confirmation and reminders about your appointments.
To have this service you will need to register by completing a consent form.
Please remember to update your contact details with us when you change address, telephone numbers and email address.
If you require an interpreter to attend with you when you see your Doctor please notify the receptionist and they will arrange this for you.
The practice has select few on the day appointments for matters assessed as urgent by the reception staff. If you feel an urgent appointment may be necessary please contact the practice on 01474 534123, you may be offered an on the day telephone consultation with a doctor.
